||| FROM HILARY CANTY for COMMUNITY FOUNDATION & LYNETTE WOOD, SENIOR CENTER|||

The Orcas Senior Center is bursting at the seams! With the population of seniors on Orcas and a remarkable staff providing excellent programs, they have run out of room and are acquiring the 49% interest in the building that San Juan County currently owns. They are well on their way towards raising the $822,260 needed for the purchase and hope to complete fundraising by the end of the summer.

The Orcas Island Community Foundation would like to give them a little boost. OICF is funding and running a matching campaign through August. The OICF Board is contributing up to $25,000 from the legacy gift that Bob Henigson left the Foundation as they feel Bob would have certainly appreciated and supported the Orcas Senior Center. The Henigson Family is so excited about the project that they are adding $25,000 to the matching pool, making the goal $50,000! Every dollar donated to the Orcas Senior Center Matching fund up to the $50,000 goal will be matched 1:1, meaning if you give $1, the senior center will receive $2.

If you are interested in increasing the matching pool, please contact Hilary Canty (hilary@oicf.us, 360-376-5376). It would be great to get to $50,000 to match!

Donations can be made online through the OICF donation portal to the Orcas Senior Center Building Purchase Matching Grant fund, or checks can be mailed to OICF PO Box 1496, Eastsound, WA 98245 or dropped off at 33 Urner Street, #4. OICF does not charge an administrative fee on donations, so 100% of your contribution will be matched and gifted to support the Senior Center.

Thank you for your support, and thanks to Bob Henigson for continuing to make contributions to strengthen the community.
