"Madronas on the Cliff" by Caroline Buchanan.

Spring may get here a little early at the Senior Center.  On Saturday, February 12, in defiance of our bleak winter, Caroline Buchanan is starting her spring watercolor series with how to paint Color in Sunlight.

This is the first of a series of single-day classes, each addressing a role of color in watercolor that Buchanan will teach at the Senior Center.  The classes run from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with a short break for (brown bag) lunch.

On Saturday February 26, the topic is Color Chords – that particular combination of colors chosen which make the visual harmonic of the painting.  In March Caroline will continue with Composing in Color on Thursday, March 17, Layering and Pigment Choice on Thursday, March 31, and Complex Color Planning on Thursday, April 14.

Caroline believes that color considerations are most important for the artist who wishes to move beyond the basic processes and learn how to effectively use the color (+water).  This is the magic of watercolor.

To register call the Center at 376-2677 and register separately for the classes.  Each is $45, payable at the desk. Classes are limited to the first 10 who register.

Full descriptions of the class can be found at Buchanan’s  website, https://www.buchananwatercolors.com/ There are also descriptions of upcoming classes including drawing and basic watercolor.  Questions? Call Caroline at 376-5509.
