A new sound comes to Orcas March 3, and you don’t want to miss it. Orcas Choral Society has launched a new ensemble of tenors and basses, highlighting the unique, evocative sound of the human voice in its lower registers. The OCS Ensemble debuts at the MAG concert, March 3, at 3 p.m. at the Orcas High School Gym.

“Bass and tenor voices just sound great together,” said Tom Baldwin, group organizer. “If you’ve never heard a tenor/bass chorus, you’ve been missing a treat. Come to the MAG Concert and enjoy.”

The MAG Concert, last performed March 3, 2020, is the main annual fundraiser of the Music Advocacy Group for music instruction in our public school. While past concerts featured Orcas’ entire adult choral, band, and symphonic groups, this year’s streamlined version focuses on small ensembles and student groups.

The OCS Ensemble will also appear in Orcas Choral Society’s spring concert, Songs of Shadow and Light, at the Orcas Center this May 18 and 19.
