The Centers for Disease Control (CDC), public health officials in several states, Canada and FDA are investigating a multistate outbreak of Shiga toxin-producing E. coli O157:H7 infections linked to romaine lettuce.
CDC is advising that U.S. consumers not eat any romaine lettuce and they should throw it away. For additional details and guidance, see the CDC food safety alert.
