Orcas writer Jennifer Brennock will teach the class, “Writing from a Writer’s Vantage Point” on Veterans Day weekend at the San Juan Island Library.
Brennock asks, “What’s your vantage point? Is it limited, omniscient, or objective? Would changing the vantage point of your prose or poem create more spark and energy in the piece? Sharpen your knowledge with this two-day writers’ workshop. Learn how to give your storytelling the most compelling or emotional impact through point of view technique. We’ll discuss point of view as a relationship between the writer, characters and the reader as well as reflect on examples from contemporary and classic writers.”
This class is for writers of all skill levels and genres and will focus on peer feedback on Friday November 12th and Saturday, November 13th from 3-6 p.m. M in the Meeting Room. Registration is required.
Brennock received her MFA in Creative Writing from Goddard College and writes poetry, fiction and creative nonfiction. She has taught creative writing through the Osher Lifelong Learning Center of Southern Oregon University. Jennifer lives on Orcas Island and is the assistant director of Artsmith, a nonprofit supporting writers and visual artists.
