The so-called Barefoot Bandit, Colton Harris-Moore, released a handwritten note Thursday vowing, “I will have a beautiful life.”
Apparently, Harris-Moore wanted to say these words to the judge at his sentencing in Skagit County [May 8] but there was some confusion and he was led away before he could speak.
The prolific, young burglar from Camano Island evaded police for two years before being captured in the Bahamas in 2010. Harris-Moore, 22, walked away from a halfway house in 2008 and is suspected of roughly a hundred thefts in Washington, Idaho and Canada, including automobiles, an airplane and speedboats. He was captured on July 11, 2010 at Harbour Island, Bahamas, when police shot out the engine of his boat.
In his note, Harris-Moore said: “My future is precisely what I make it. If there is any truth I’ve learned, it is that absolutely anything is possible.”
One of his attorneys, Lance Rosen, said in a press release that Harris-Moore wanted to “offer a public expression of his gratitude for the kindnesses and support he has received from so many good people. He has been amazed and inspired.”

I see no apology. Do you see an apology?
I see no apology either. Hopefully other folks don’t get into his bad habits.
Some believe there is a possibility that Colton’s life could evolve into one that, in time, may give back to our society tenfold. Compassion and forgiveness,in this case, may actually help foster a truly amazing life yet to be lived. We can only hope this will be the case.
