Join us at Odd Fellows Hall for an engaging talk and discussion on Thursday, August 20, at 6:30 pm led by internationally renowned educator, author, and lecturer — and longstanding Orcas part-time resident — Jackson Katz, who will discuss some of the key ideas from his new book Every Man: Why Violence Against Women is a Men’s Issue.
The concise, energetic book combines social history with cultural critique about the ongoing crisis of gender-based violence, along with a call to action for men.
Katz praises women’s transformative leadership on this topic, even as he calls for men –- especially those in positions of family, community, business, and political leadership — to play a more active role on this critical topic.
Whether you’re a father, grandfather, husband, son, coach, teacher, or employer, this evening will offer you a new perspective on one of the defining issues of our time.
A question and answer session follows, as well as a book signing.
