The Visual Arts Committee (VAC) of Orcas Center is pleased to present Terry Johnson and Friends – A Retrospective Exhibition and Special Sales Event running at Orcas Center, June 14 – July 23.
Join us for the art opening on Friday, June 14 from 5:30pm – 7pm in the Orcas Center Madrona Room with Ron Myers on piano, complimentary refreshments, and a wine bar.
Terry Johnson received an MFA from the University of Washington in Seattle in 1978 and was hired soon after by Cornish College of Art in Seattle, where he attained Full Professorship and taught for 22 years. Since 2003, Terry has been painting, teaching and mentoring aspiring artists on Orcas Island.
His own work is in many national and international collections of museums, colleges and universities, as well as numerous private collections. In 2021, received the “Best in Show” award from the San Fernando Valley Arts and Culture Center’s Chiaroscuro exhibit for his piece, “Artist Cleaning Brushes, Self Portrait.”
Decades and dozens of Terry’s Paintings will be on display in the Orcas Center’s main lobby and ALL will be for sale at “Island Friendly” prices!
And don’t miss the adjacent show in the Madrona Room featuring some of Terry’s former students and their artwork including Avi Shmueli, Barbara Gourley, Barbara Wixom, Betsy Nelson, Christa Smith, Mimi Peters, Pearl Mudd, Peter Carlson, and Shawna Franklin.
