— from Pat Littlewood —
Opening on Friday, November 4th, in the lobby gallery at Orcas Center is a very unique show collated by the Visual Arts Committee which features works of art assembled from around the world by local resident collectors.
The extraordinary display will feature original pieces of indigenous art crafted by native artisans and will include a rich variety of objects from sculptures and paintings, carvings and masks, to jewelry and fabrics. This unusual show promises to reflect the wide- ranging interests of our Orcas community, many of whom have traveled extensively across the globe and will be sharing some of their favorite works of art.
In addition to the “World of Art” collection in the lobby, there will be an “On and Off the Wall” show in the Madrona Room of local artists displaying their current work.
Intake for both installations is scheduled for Wednesday, November 2nd, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. The opening reception for public viewing will be held on Friday, November 4th, from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m., in the Orcas Center Madrona Room, and both shows will remain up until November 30th.
Persons having questions about participating in either show may contact the directors: Andrea Hendrick at 376-7166 or Pat Littlewood at 376-3050 for further information.
