April is National Poetry Month, and once again JoEllen Moldoff is accelerating her efforts to bring poetry to Orcas Islanders.

Moldoff is organizing a display of poems by Orcas Poets in the Library. If you would like to submit two poems, please either email them to moldoff@rockisland.com or bring hard copies to the library by March 23.

On Saturday, April 11, Orcas poets will read at the second annual Evening of Poetry.” Moldoff again has organized this popular event which was sold out at its inaugural performance last year.

And on Saturday, April 25, an all-day session, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with recognized poet Alice Derry, will take place at the library. A few spots are still open, at a cost of $50.

This workshop is open to all. Each poet will submit two poems by March 20 for feedback from Poe Alice Derry. Alice will select one poem from each participant to discuss in the workshop. Enrollment is still open.

“Alice Derry has been a featured poet at the Skagit Poetry Festival. A few of us were in her workshop last May and were very impressed by her talent as a poet as well as her skillful and generous teaching,” said Moldoff.

Alice will give a reading for the community on Friday evening, April 24 at the library.
