Almost Classical, Orcas Island’s “Orcas Has Talent” winners, will perform at the Brown Bag Concert at the Emmanuel Episcopal Parish in Eastsound this Wednesday, July 23, from noon to 12:30 p.m.
The trio of young ladies includes Lisa Carter on Celtic harp and piano, and Emy Carter and Paris Wilson on violin. The group has performed at the San Juan County Fair, Orcas Island’s summer Music in the Park series, Martin Lund’s One World concert, and other events on Orcas Island and the mainland. The girls have received “superior” ratings at Northwest Washington music contests. Each musician is classically-trained on her instrument, and they excel at creating their own arrangements of popular music.
The program for Wednesday will include a variety of contemporary pop and classic pop songs, including “Troublemaker” by Olly Murs, “Don’t Stop Believin’” by Journey, “Love the Way You Lie” by Eminem, “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri, along with a variety of other pop songs, almost all arranged by Almost Classical.
The Music Committee presents the concert free of charge but donations are welcomed to the Virgil Cleveland Memorial Scholarship Fund which provides music scholarships for deserving Orcas Island music students.
