All registered San Juan County voters will receive ballots for this election.
San Juan County Fire Protection District No. 2 (Orcas Island Fire & Rescue) is running a property tax levy. This levy is the primary funding source for fire and emergency medical services provided by OIFR. San Juan County Public Hospital District No. 2 (Lopez) is running a property tax levy. This levy is the primary source of funding for medical services by the District. Lopez Solid Waste Disposal District is running a property tax levy. The purpose of this levy is for funding operations and capital improvements of the District.
Locally, there will be numerous commission and board positions (for example, fire commissioners, hospital commissioners and school board directors).
Key Dates
- October 17: Ballots are mailed to registered voters.
- October 30: Deadline to receive new registrations and voter updates online and by mail.
- November 7: Election date.
- November 28: Certification.
REGISTER TO VOTE
How do I register to vote?
It’s easy and secure to register online, by mail with a paper form, or at the County Elections Office. Check your registration at VoteWA.gov.
To register to vote in the state of Washington, you must be:
- A citizen of the United States.
- A legal resident of Washington state for at least 30 days prior to election day.
- At least 18 years old.
- If you are 16 or 17, you can sign up as a Future Voter and be automatically registered to vote when you qualify.
- Not disqualified from voting due to a court order.
- Not currently serving a sentence of total confinement in prison under the jurisdiction of the department of corrections for a Washington felony conviction.
- Not currently incarcerated for a federal or out-of-state felony conviction.
What if I miss the deadline to register to vote online?
Washington offers same day registration services through election day. 8-days prior to the election you must register (or update) in person at the Elections Office.
Important notes:

Voting Mail FAQ
If mailing your ballot via USPS, we recommend mailing your ballot the Friday before Election Day. If mailing on Election Day, have the post office hand stamp your ballot. San Juan County mail is delivered to Seattle and then processed the following day.
