Dick Staub, Pastor at the Orcas Island Community Church, announces the second KindlingsFest wil be held on Orcas Island from Wednesday, July 22 to Saturday, July 25 but right now is the time to Register for KindlingsFest 2009!
” Summer 2008, we gathered on beautiful Orcas Island for a magical experience in community — nearly 300 people gathered for KindlingsFest, a celebration of Faith, Art and Ideas.
This year’s KindlingsFest will again feature C.S. Lewis scholar Jerry Root, with a new series called “C.S. Lewis on ‘Broken Beauty.'” British actor and arts advocate Nigel Goodwin will also be back.
Four artists in residence will be featured, including: painter Bruce Herman, C.S. Lewis scholar/author Michael Ward, filmmaker Rick Stevenson and singer songwriter Michael Kelly Blanchard. (Each will be featured in a 7 p.m. Kindlings Muse followed by BagEnd Café).
“Please plan on joining us this summer. We are really limited in space and the 300 slots will fill up quickly!” Staub says, adding that there will be a modest advance registration donation to help cover advance costs for the event.
