Youth Acting classes return to Orcas Center this fall! Acting classes provide children with more than just fun – although that’s certainly a big part of it! Acting teaches kids to adapt to changing situations, work within a group, gain self-confidence, and practice public speaking.
Drama 1: Improv (Ages 7-11) 3:30 – 4:30pm $70
Participants will explore the fundamental skills needed to perform: movement and bodily awareness, vocal control and expression, focus and listening through games and activities designed to bolster creativity and confidence.
Drama 2: Character (Ages 12-14) 4:30pm – 5:30pm
Participants will explore and refine their skills and knowledge related to crafting, rehearsing, and performing a cohesive piece. Skills will include script analysis, character development, blocking and rehearsal. Additionally, students will learn about the technical aspects of a production and all the moving parts of a show.
Classes will run September 13-October 20 on Tuesdays and Thursdays and are led by Jake Perrine and Jamey Moriarity. Cost is $70 and registration is through Parks and Rec. For more information visit: www.OrcasCenter.org/classes.
