A video contest managed by  sanjuanislandsTV.com will give islanders and visitors alike the chance to wine more than $6,000 in prizes. The San Juan Islands Vacation Video Contest is open to videos made from time spent in the San Juans from January 1, 2009 through October 31, 2009.

“People already go on vacation with their cameras and post videos to YouTube all the time,” remarked Lisa Mollica-O’Brien of sanjuanislandsTV.com.

“We hope people will see the contest and prizes and say ‘honey, let’s go to the San Juans!’” She added that the videos can also be slide shows of trips, family weddings, and romantic getaways with still pictures and music. The winning entries will showcase the islands’ natural beauty, culture, activities, and just how much fun it is to be here.

The Grand Prize is a 3-night stay on Lopez, Orcas, and San Juan Islands with lodging, dinner, activities, and $1,000 cash! Plus five additional nights of lodging, gift certificates, and passes that can be used on the same trip or multiple trips.

First Prize is a four-day Family Camp Weekend at Canoe Island French Camp and includes transportation from island ferry terminals, lodging, gourmet meals, and use of all island facilities and equipment. Available dates are limited and at Canoe Island’s discretion.

To enter, people must post their videos as a video response to the “Vacation Video Contest San Juan Islands” on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gcUSImEKXHo
