Are you a beginning farmer wanting to learn how to plan your farm business, or are you experienced farmer/rancher wanting to try something new? Join WSU Extension this Fall for a step-by-step 12-week course, offered fully online, to prepare a well thought out plan for your land, life, and business. Using a whole systems lens to create a living plan for your small farm future, this course will cover a broad overview of production and marketing options to create, sustain, and grow a viable small farm enterprise. 

Cultivating Success – Whole Farm Planning will be held on Tuesdays, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., September 22 through December 8, 2020. The course will be conducted online via Zoom.

You will build your small farms community network and learn from presenters like local producers and processors, community-based organizations, and specialists with expertise in direct marketing, value-added processing, production planning, agronomy, livestock production, and more!

Key Exercises for Whole Farm Planning Course include Sustainability Concepts, Whole Farm Planning, Evaluating Resources, Enterprise Assessment, Marketing & Business Strategies, Sustainable Farming Practices, Ecological Soil Management, Integrated Pest & Weed Management, Basics of Livestock & Intensive Management, and Equipment & Facilities Considerations.

Registration cost is $200 per farm/family. Military Veterans interested in joining the course are eligible for a full scholarship supported through a U.S Department of Veteran Affairs Farm Grant administered through the Washington State Department of Veteran Affairs. Scholarships also available for those where cost is a barrier to participating.
