Close to 400,000 people are expected to travel on Washington State Ferries this Labor Day weekend, between Thursday, Sept. 3 and Monday, Sept. 7.
Holiday schedules for Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 7:
- Anacortes/San Juan Islands, Edmonds/Kingston, Poi
nt Defiance/Tahlequah, and Port Townsend/Coupeville will have a few schedule adjustments.
- Seattle/Bainbridge and Fauntle
roy/Vashon/Southworth will run a weekend/holiday schedule.
All other routes will operate regular schedules. Holiday sailings are marked on the schedules for each route.
Busy travel times
- Westbound (or onto an island) Thursday and Friday, Sept. 3-4
- Eastbound (or off island) Sunday and Monday, Sept. 6-7
Saturday, Sept. 5, is expected to see the heaviest passenger traffic. Plan for long lines and extended wait times. To reduce or eliminate waiting, consider taking early-morning or late-night sailings or using transit to walk or bike onto the ferry if possible.

To help navigate the crowds, customers are encouraged to use the WSDOT mobile app or visit the WSF website before heading to the terminal. Both feature sailing schedules, live terminal conditions, rider alerts, a real-time map and vehicle reservations.
