This weekend Orcas organizations and artists brought out the best in islanders’ creativity and community-sharing in celebrating at traditional events — the American Legion, the Orcas Library Holiday Tea and the Odd Fellows Artisans Faire.

At the Orcas chapter of the American Legion, the group raffled off baskets of toys, cooking supplies, pet goods, and Seahawks paraphernalia; and served two kinds of hot soup. Visitors browsed through jewelry, kitchen linens, jams and jellies, holiday decorations, baked goods, art and books and pop art designed from car parts and olive oil decanters.

At the Library’s Holiday Tea, Santa and Mrs Claus made an appearance, amid various musical groups and a bountiful tea service. The High School Key Club again performed traditional hospitality duties and young guests danced to the music.

The Odd Fellows Artisan Faire ran both Saturday and Sunday with plants, candies and holiday treats, knit goods,,candles, lotions, photography, jewelry, ceramics and artwork.

The events were a feast for the eyes, the ears and the taste buds, along enjoyed especially by islanders who benefit and contribute to community groups such ad the Legion, the Library and the Odd Fellows.

Thank you!
