— from Weight Watchers–

As more research emerges on the health risks and costs of being overweight, it is great to know that Washington State cares enough to offer this program to low income individuals.

“Molina Healthcare is excited to announce we are offering the Weight Watchers®weight loss program to our members. Molina Healthcare will enroll interested and eligible members into a local Weight Watchers® program and provide vouchers for up to six months of program attendance at no cost. The program is limited to members aged 17 years and older (a requirement set by Weight Watchers®) with a BMI of 25 or more.” (taken from the Washington State Medicaid website)

Before coming to the meeting here on Orcas, members must check their eligibility and come with the vouchers needed to process enrollment and weekly fees in Weight Watchers.

“This will open the doors for many of our local residents to take part in a healthy weight loss program and have the support of meetings,” says Weight Watchers Leader, Carol Kulminski. “We have been meeting for 3 years and have seen many members achieve their weight loss goals. Even more important, they are keeping that weight off and living a healthy lifestyle”.

Weight Watchers meets at the Funhouse every Monday night. Weigh-in and new registrations begin at 5:30 pm and the meeting runs from 6:00 pm to 6:30 pm.

“We have the reputation of being supportive, fun, and informational, and we welcome new members!”
