Visit to Eagle Harbor Maintenance Facility

I spent some time at our Eagle Harbor Maintenance Facility last week meeting colleagues who basically keep our system afloat. The Bainbridge Island complex is home base for more than 100 employees tasked with keeping our all vessels and facilities in safe, working order. There are 10 different trade shops: electric, pipefitter, machine, sheet metal, weld, lock, radio, carpenter, insulation and shore maintenance. Each of them is vital in providing preventive maintenance and emergency repairs for a fleet of 21 vessels and 20 terminals.

SR 305 Agate Pass Bridge delays Feb. 13-19 and Feb. 27 to March 2

Heads up Seattle/ Bainbridge route riders! You may want to schedule additional travel time if you’re crossing the SR 305 Agate Pass Bridge next week. Drivers can expect 30-minute daytime delays, if not more, for annual bridge cleaning work. On Monday, Feb. 13, through Sunday, Feb. 19, the bridge will be reduced to one alternating lane of traffic from 8:45 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays and 7:15 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the weekend. Consider traveling early or late in the day or reschedule discretionary trips. Other alternatives include taking the Bremerton or Kingston ferries.

Once cleaning work is complete, the bridge will be inspected on Monday, Feb. 27, through Thursday, March 2. The bridge will again be reduced to one alternating lane of traffic from 8:45 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day.

Customer kudos graphic

“Huge thanks to the ladies loading cars at Bainbridge Monday morning. First car, second row, dead battery. We were driving to Seattle for daughters’ birthday and they were so quick and professional as I sat there frozen in terror. Helped get the car going and got us on our way, you were amazing!”
