— from Washington State Ferries —
We’re hiring entry-level crew members to start working in the spring of 2016. Our goal is to hire up to 35 Ordinary Seamen (OS) for on-call positions around Puget Sound.
These crew members are part of our system’s front line. On board the ferry, the OS is responsible for the safety of passengers and the cleanliness of the boats. The OS helps tie up the vessel, assists both walk-on and drive-on customers, and is responsible for keeping passenger areas of the boat clean.
In addition, every OS stands by to assist Able Seamen with fire, rescue and abandon ship emergency situations. If you want a maritime job that allows you to go work in the beautiful waters of Puget Sound, this entry-level opportunity as an OS might be for you. If you are willing to learn seamanship, there is a clear path for career growth up to captain.
