||| FROM SAN JUAN COUNTY FAIR |||

Come to San Juan Island and the Fairgrounds located within walking distance of the ferry dock to see and learn about project animals, photos, baking, crafts, horticulture, performing arts and animal showmanship. Local Island youth will compete during this year’s San Juan County Fair – the only all county event – from Wednesday, August 16th through Saturday, August 19th 2023. Club members from Lopez, Orcas and San Juan Island will be represented. Check out the list of events by day https://www.sjcfair.org/events/2023-fair

Local and regional judges will evaluate projects and classes during the first three days and on the fourth day there will be a live Auction – Saturday, August 19th at 1:00 pm. The Livestock Auction usually includes eggs, hogs, chicken trios, lamb, beef and goats. Bidding is entertaining and lively with bidders vying for purchase. People can bid by proxy as well! A Still life auction will feature qualifying crafts, baked goods, jellies, original art, poetry, knitted goods and more.

Please join your community and go “Dancing with the Steers” and enjoy the projects on display at your San Juan County Fair at the Fairgrounds in Friday Harbor this year. The complete list of award winners will be found on the WSU San Juan County Website, including: Overall High Point Winner, the Harald Kjargaard Memorial Award, honoring “the most outstanding 4-H member,” the  San Juan County 4-H Leaders Council Leadership Award for exemplifying the 4-H motto “to make the best better” and others.
