Booster Club President thanks fans, volunteers —
The Orcas Vikings Football Team, with the participation of the Lopez Island Lobos, defeated the Friday Harbor Wolverines at the historic Island Cup on Saturday, Sept. 5 at Dahl Field on Orcas Island. The final score was 42-6.
Booster Club President Justin Paulsen wrote on Saturday following the game:
“What a great Football Game on many levels! I have got to give a HUGE thank you to our Concession Stand Crew who today shattered EVERY record ever in serving the Fans. Blythe Simpson, Bonnie Grayum, Cathy Ferran, Journey Howden, Maureen Hansen, Erika Harlow and everyone else who helped out. And a follow-up to the Lower Tavern, who helps make all of our concession sales successful by donating food for us to sell!
“Many other volunteers to thank as well – but too many to name. I counted over 30 people on site today helping, working and contributing all in the name of supporting our kids.
“And a big thanks to the Fans who came out to support our athletes! What an amazing showing of support from our fans!
“If you want to be part of this AMAZING group of volunteers, please let us know and we will find a spot to have you help. Thanks to you all and lets do it again next week!
“And there’s another big game this weekend with a team coming all the way from Oakland Calif.!
