From Michele Gregg
There is an exciting new reason to gather socially on Orcas Island each month–a chance to learn, hands-on, how to easily prepare healthier meals. However, don’t let the name Vibrant Vegetarian or Cooking Club fool you; non-vegetarians and people of all skill levels in the kitchen are warmly welcome to this monthly gathering.
Whether you’re an omnivore, vegetarian, vegan, raw foodie, gluten-free–or wish you didn’t have to prepare meals!–you will be supported in learning how to easily create meals that add more whole vegetables, fruits, legumes, and (GF) grains into your personal lifestyle. Local chefs are also encouraged to join in the fun, to learn easy, healthy meals that they might even want to add to their own deli or restaurant menus, to serve this long-standing and steadily growing customer base.
In addition, there will be opportunities to enjoy movie nights, scheduled family nights where children under age 14 will also be invited, and fascinating information from medical doctors and scientists who specialize in whole nutrition science–including M.D. weight-gain and weight-loss tips for healthy weight management with plant-based food.
The club will gather on the second Thursday of every month at the Orcas Christian School kitchen, located at 107 Enchanted Forest Road, beginning on Thursday October 11 at 6pm. Ages 14 to adult are invited, at a cost of just $5 per person. To ensure plenty of food will be on hand for all, please contact the Vibrant Vegetarian Cooking Club in advance to RSVP and to share any allergies or special dietary requirements you might have (email orcas@vibrantvegetarian.com or phone Michele at 376-2876).
