The University of Washington Friday Harbor Labs will host an Open House on  Saturday, May 16, 2009 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Scientists and students will showcase their marine science research, answer questions and provide demonstrations.  Visitors will be able to step aboard and tour the Labs’ 58′ research vessel, the R/V Centennial.

There will be three lectures, a demonstration of SCUBA equipment and a SCUBA dive from the Friday Harbor Lab docks.  There will also be free popcorn along with light refreshments for sale in the Dining Hall.

The event is open to the public and is a great time for the whole family.

The  self-guided tours, at 620 University Road in Friday Harbor, are free. Parking is limited, so carpools are encouraged.
