On Saturday, May 7, a group of kayakers reported a deceased person on the south shore of Lopez Island between Ice Berg Point and Watmough Bay. The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office utilized the Sheriff’s boats Guardian and Intrepid to make the recovery.
At this time all that is known is the victim is a Caucasian female of unknown age and origin. It is currently unknown if foul play was involved.
The remains were sent to the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s office for an autopsy to be performed.
At this time there are no reported missing persons in San Juan County.
