||| FROM ORCAS ISLAND SCHOOL DISTRICT |||
This week ballots are being sent out by San Juan County Elections to all Orcas registered voters. There is only one measure on the ballot: replacement of Orcas Island School District’s Capital Projects and Technology Levy.
This last year the pandemic has amplified the need for ALL students and staff to have access to the tools needed in order to successfully participate in the new norms of public education. Our district prioritizes and supports the technology that a 21st century education demands. We also recognize that the replacement cycle for our existing technology is now accelerated due to the pandemic. We are committed to the investment in and maintenance of the instruments of our progress, such as:
- Essential upgrades to our technology infrastructure
- Hardware (laptops and classroom technology equipment)
- Relevant software
- Staff trainings
The Technology and Capital Projects Levy on the April 27th ballot will replace a previously expired levy. Passage of this levy will provide the funding for these important upgrades and improvements.
