Kindlings WinterFest an annual lecture series featuring leading thinkers on issues of contemporary importance. Friday, March 9 – Sunday, March 11 @ Orcas Island Community Church It is a scaled down, lecture only version of the annual summer event KindlingsFest. WinterFest 2012′s theme is designed to help each attendee become more fully human. The public is welcome and registrants will be attending from across the Northwest. The event leads to a rapprochement with his young daughters while Matt wrestles with a decision to sell the family’s land handed down from Hawaiian royalty and missionaries. San Juan County Charter Review Commission (CRC) at Grace Episcopal Church in Lopez Village from 8:30 am to 2pm (with a break for lunch).

Island Madness Indoor Rowing Fest Turn up at the Odd Fellows by noon to compete or to watch. No pre-registration is required. There is no charge for entry although donations of $5 or more per entrant are encouraged to help cover the cost of the event and support the junior rowing club. Medicine Wheel Workshop from noon to 5 p.m. at the Eastsound Fire Hall. Dance the Wheel of Life and experience the Medicine Wheel through our bodies. San Juan Islands Chapter of the Washington Native Plant Society  2012 Annual Meeting at The Gathering Place at LoHo in Lopez Village beginning at 1:30pm.  The meeting will include a slide show on locally rare plants, the adoption of a list of plants that the Chapter consider to be rare or significant in islands and a botanical  exploration of the San Juan County Land Bank’s Upright Head Preserve.  For information, directions or a ride from the ferry please contact Madrona Murphy (madrona.blue@gmail.com, 468-2808).
