— from Dave Z Zoeller —
Q: Where can one go to see a symphony consisting of fiddle, guitar, banjo, mandolin, string bass, concertina, ukulele, dobro, kazoo and saw, and, on occasion, has been known to include a tap dance or power tool rhythm section?
A: Why, the annual Olga Symphony show at the Orcas Center, coming up Friday and Saturday, November 27 and 28 at 7:30.
It may be hard to believe, but for the 17th time in as many years, the infamous band known as much for formal wear and tickling one-liners as its music is headed back to the Orcas Center stage for the traditional Holiday Concert. What will JP, Anita, Gordon, Melinda and Z cook up this year? As usual, much of the show remains top-secret, but one could reasonably expect some old favorites as well as some new tunes and songs. And, once again, ticket prices remain lower than your average triple-peppermint pumpkin spice soy half-decaf latte!
Plan to be part of an Orcas tradition and get tickets early. As always, proceeds will benefit both Orcas Center and other island non-profits. Tickets available now but going fast at 376-2281 or orcascenter.org.
