||| ADY WALKER for CHILDREN’S HOUSE ||| For over a decade, our island has elected a cherished animal to be our honorary mayor during this light-hearted community fundraiser for the Orcas Island Children’s House. The Orcas Island Children’s House has served island families and their children with joy and a commitment to playful learning since 1969. We believe that what happens early in life matters and provide a nurturing and loving environment for children up to age five. We aim to cultivate Wonder and Discovery in the hearts and minds of our young children and believe these dispositions build a foundation for learning that lasts a lifetime. The Orcas Island Children’s House is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Fundraisers like the Mayor’s Race help us keep tuition affordable for all families. This is more important than ever as families face great uncertainty and financial hardships ahead. Every vote helps us keep tuition affordable for all families on the island.
