— from Rachel Bishop —
Darvills Bookstore invites you to join Tashi Litch and Kaj Litch on Thursday December 21st at 4 p.m. to celebrate the release of their second CD. They will play a few original tunes and bluegrass classics from their new CD and talk about their music. There is no charge.
Tashi is 16 and Kaj is 13, and both have grown up on the island playing and performing music with local musicians and with their family band “The Crow Valley String Band”. In recent years they have embraced traditional Bluegrass, bringing to it their own particular style picking on guitar and mandolin and vocal harmonies. With a strong sense of their island home they have been able to play in music festivals and concerts across the country from Benaroya Hall with Brandi Carlisle to the Santa Cruz Auditorium with Alastair Frasier and Natalie Haas. For the last two years they have been invited to North Carolina by the International Bluegrass Music Association to play with select young musicians, the next generation of the Bluegrass tradition.
In 2015 the boys were invited to give a TEDX performance and in 2017 they and their duo Brograss was featured in the film “It takes an Island” which won best short film at the Orcas Island Film Festival last summer. The film will now be shown at the Seattle Film Festival in May of 2018.
Please come and join them to celebrate their latest CDs and share stories about this project.
