Monday, Sept. 2 (Labor Day) and Tuesday, Sept. 3  from 11 am to 3 pm at the Orcas Island Community Church Fellowship Hall

Orcas Recycling Services/The Exchange, in cooperation with numerous island individuals and groups, announces a Back to School Clothes Swap Meet next week.  The event will be held on Monday (Labor Day) and Tuesday from 11 am to 3 pm at the Orcas Island Community Church Fellowship Hall.

The clothing swap meet invites Orcas Island students, families and groups to join in the event, both by donating and receiving clean used school clothing.  Clothing dropoff hours at the Fellowship Hall are Sunday, 1-4 pm, and Monday and Tuesday during the event from 11-3.  A dynamic exchange and lots of fun is predicted, and  the community is asked to spread the word immediately.

According to Susan Malins, Board President of Orcas Recycling Services/The Exchange, “All too recently it came to the Board’s attention that many children and families rely upon The Exchange for back-to-school clothes and today face a real dilemma, without an operating Exchange and with school scheduled to begin soon.  Responding to real human needs, and re-using goods within our community, is at the heart of The Exchange – and why everyone is missing it so very much.  Hopefully this will help meet the needs of many of our young people for school clothing this year.”
