Excuse me, but what do you do if are in Friday Harbor from Orcas on business? Maybe jury duty? And they cancel the inter-island. Do they pay for your hotel and meals until you can return home? Just asking.
I am very supportive of our Ferry Service and our employees, but the service to the San Juan Islands is not acceptable. Every week there is a major issue. Now the problem is the interisland ferry. What do our neighbors do about going to work, school, hospital visits when there is no interisland ferry, and no effort for any backup. What happens to the chemo patient? What happens to the job applicant? The employee who has meetings with islanders? I think it is time to start thinking about seeking help from our neighbors to the north, who seem to be able to support their islands. Let’s talk to BC Ferries, maybe they can serve us.
