||| FROM ELISABETH GODBOIS for SAN JUAN PREPARE |||
Join San Juan Islands PREPARE and special guests for a community conversation about transforming our approach to disaster preparedness—from guarding limited supplies to creating abundance through cooperation.
This event, on Wednesday, November 12 at 5 p.m. at San Juan Island Grange, introduces the Disaster Hub Initiative, a prototype project that will house essential life-saving supplies—food, water, medical kits, and communication tools—for use during extended power outages or transportation disruptions.
The Disaster Hub is designed to support both visitors who may become stranded during ferry interruptions or natural disasters, and residents who lack the space or resources to maintain personal stockpiles.
Learn how community celebrations over open-fire outdoor kitchens can help us prepare to feed our neighbors in times of crisis, turning shared meals into shared resilience. Discover how this compassionate, community-based model strengthens island resilience through shared responsibility and mutual aid.
Free and open to all. Light refreshments will be served.
