A San Juan Deputy responded to a report of a theft of several campaign signs. The suspect vehicle was located and 18 signs were located. The incident was documented.

A Deputy on Orcas responded to a possible protection order violation. After looking over the order it was found that no violation had occurred. A report was authored.
THURSDAY, AUGUST 8
24-005066 Suspicious Person/Circumstance 10:00:19 08/08/24
A Deputy on Orcas responded to reports of a person yelling for help. A patrol vessel was launched and a vehicle was located on the rocks below Deer Harbor Road, with one occupant injured outside. Orcas Fire and EMS extricated the victim from the scene, and the subject was flown to the mainland.

A San Juan Deputy took a report of Fraud. A person was defrauded out of funds, but contacted their bank in order to stop the transfer. No suspect information was available.

A Deputy on Orcas responded to an accident with possible injury near Deer Harbor. The driver was arrested for DUI and released with a criminal citation with a court date tomorrow. A report was authored and sent to DOL.

An Orcas Island Deputy was dispatched to a report of trespassing. A report was taken.

A Lopez Deputy was dispatched to a dog at large complaint. The dog’s owner was issued an at large warning letter.

A Lopez resident called regarding a possible harassment of a third party on Facebook. The posts are not criminal. No further action required.
SATURDAY, AUGUST 10
24-005137 Traffic Hazard 17:14:42 08/10/24
A Lopez Island Deputy was on routine patrol and came across a vehicle on Fisherman Bay Road. The vehicle was blocking half of the northbound lane. The vehicle was unattended and issued an infraction for parking in the roadway.

A San Juan Deputy responded to a report of lost property. The incident was documented.
24-005149 Traffic Violation 23:44:14 08/10/24
A San Juan Deputy was dispatched to a report of a vehicle doing donuts. While en route, a Deputy stopped a vehicle for displaying underglow, traveling 46 MPH in a posted 25 MPH speed zone and driving left of center. The driver was arrested for DUI.

A Lopez Island Deputy was contacted by a citizen who reported that his kayak had been stolen from a local marina. The investigation is ongoing.

Lopez residents reported the sound of large explosions from San Juan Island or the peninsula area. At this time the location of the source is unknown.
24-005170 Vicious Animal 09:18:24 08/12/24
Deputies were contact about an Animal Problem in the San Juan Island area. The person was reporting a problem with a neighbor’s dog. Warning letter issued.
24-005171 Trespassing 10:06:33 08/12/24
A Lopez Deputy was called for illegal camping in a village park. The person was removed and told not to return. The Deputy verified that the involved person is currently in contact with service providers.

I received a call of a Dog Bite. The victim was being treated at the Orcas Island medical clinic for the bite. I contacted the victim at the clinic. A report was authored.

Deputies on San Juan Island responded to a report of cold domestic incident. The incident evolved into a smoke investigation, then the individual armed themselves with a knife and went into a bathroom with intent to harm themselves. The individual was safely taken into protective custody.

Deputies on San Juan Island responded to a report of a domestic incident. The call was ultimately a mental health crisis involving a juvenile, where EMS was requested to respond. The individual was medically flown off the island for further care. A report was completed.

An Orcas Island Deputy accepted a firearm from a citizen for destruction. The firearm was placed in safekeeping and a report authored.
24-005198 Fraud 11:01:23 08/13/24
An Orcas Island Deputy responded to a call of a fraud. An investigation was conducted and found the reporting party had received several scam medicare phone calls. No loss to the reporting party and a report was authored.
24-005203 Theft 15:21:34 08/13/24
Deputies on San Juan Island responded to a report of theft from a business in Friday Harbor. The individual adamantly denied stealing, however the theft was captured on security camera footage and the item was located. The individual was booked into jail for theft in the third degree.

A Deputy on San Juan Island received a report of a domestic. The Deputy talked to the people involved and observed that it was a just a verbal argument. A report was taken.
