The Orcas community and guests are invited to join in witnessing a historic celebration of peace between Lummi and Haida tribal leaders. The community will witness song, dance, celebration and culture in an embodiment of what it means to move forward from historical atrocities and for peace to grow on Orcas.
This gathering is an opportunity for the Orcas community to reflect on our history, while investigating how we can move through the past and create a future where peace and truth flourish.
Speakers will include Chairman Hillaire, Lummi Council representatives, Lummi member Jay Julius, and Haida tribal and spiritual leaders. Other witnesses include Chairman Wheeler of the Nez Perce, Willie Frank of Nisqually, Reuben George of Tsleil-Waututh and Kimokeo of Maui.
