— from Madie Murray —
It’s that time again! For the sixth year in a row, Orcas Island will host the Orcas Island Cider & Mead Festival on Saturday, July 23, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the Eastsound Village Green in Eastsound, WA – a major fundraiser for the Farm to School Program.
Twenty producers will be offering 70+ varieties of ciders and meads: Seattle Cider, Ace Cider, Schilling, Westcott Bay, Crispin, Forge, Square Mile, Reverend Nats, NV Ciders, Sky River Mead, Stung Fermented, Locust, Tieton, 2 Towns, HoneyRun, Nectar Creek, Chaucers, Rogue and BeeHaven Mead. And visitors to the big white tasting tent and cider garden will be able to purchase and take home their favorites.
Adults 21 and over may enter the tasting tent for as little as $10 that includes admission, tastes and a commemorative tasting glass.
The hotly contested Orcas Island Home Brew competition will occur at 2 p.m. with the coveted prizes this year being beautiful custom made Cider Festival growlers made by Orcas Island Growlers.
And music, music, music! Orcas Island’s own Dustbunnies; and singer/songwriter from Seattle, Isaiah Dominguez, will be returning to entertain the crowd from the Village Green Stage with musical strains from Celtic to soft rock. The big white tasting tent will be perched alongside the Farmers Market that will be in full swing offering produce, flowers, food and crafts.
A huge thanks to our sponsors: Island Hoppin’ Brewery, Access Equipment, CiderBox, Farmstand Brewing, Ray’s Pharmacy & General Store, Girl Meets Dirt, The Barnacle, Roses Bakery Café, Orcas Island Growlers, Beanitos and Islands Sounder!
