Sunday, June 30, 5 p.m., Orcas Center
— from Deborah Sparks for Orcas Center —
SING FEST! is coming to Orcas Island on Sunday, June 30 at 5 p.m. in the Madrona Room at Orcas Center. The brainchild of Anji Ringzin, adults and tweens are invited to join in this new quarterly event.
Participants will be taught the songs by the amazing musical director, choir conductor, and singer songwriter Grace McCune (Moulin Rouge, Across the Universe, Cirque Us).
Everyone that loves to sing classic rock numbers from the 60s and onward will enjoy rocking out together. It is open to all regardless of vocal ability, no requirements to read music and no auditions. Accompanied by a recorded backing track, a simple harmony may be introduced and learned very easily. And when all the voices come together, the magic happens in just two short hours.
The first song to rock and roll out at SING FEST will be LOVE SHACK by the B52s.
Come one, come all, no commitment, just a group of people coming together to sing, have a laugh and join in the riot of fun. Orcas Center will provide a wine and beverage bar. This is a free event with donations welcome.
