A Deputy took a call regarding vandalism in Eastsound in which person(s) had spray painted a building. A report was filed.
24-003224 Citizen Assist 10:47:24 06/05/24
A Deputy took a report of an apparent trespassing in the Deer Harbor area. Persons were observed on camera surveillance attempting to open a locked gate, and eventually made entry into an unlocked gate. They were confronted by the owner and left peacefully after making entry. Case continues.
24-003232 Found Property 15:10:03 06/05/24
A Deputy on San Juan Island took a report of found property. The items were determined to be garbage and were disposed of. A report was completed.
24-003235 Traffic Violation 16:37:47 06/05/24
A Deputy took a report of an erratic driver on Orcas Island. A plate was provided. Contact was made with the registered owner who admitted to the offense. Education was provided. No further action required.
24-003236 Boating Problem 17:42:42 06/05/24
A Lopez Deputy was dispatched to a vessel taking on water, docked at a local business. Good Samaritans, the Sheriff’s Office, Lopez Fire, and IOSA personnel worked together to keep the vessel afloat until Tow Boats US arrived on scene. No fuel or oil was released during the incident.

A Deputy on Orcas Island responded to a report of a vehicle in the ditch. The driver was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/or drugs.
24-003241 Fraud 20:05:01 06/05/24
A Deputy on Orcas Island responded to a fraud complaint. An investigation commenced.
24-003242 Unwanted Person 20:13:31 06/05/24
A Deputy on Orcas Island responded to an unwanted person complaint. The complainant wished to document some unwanted and unsolicited attention.
24-003243 Wanted Person 20:21:46 06/05/24
Deputies on San Juan Island responded to the Port of Friday Harbor and located an individual with an active warrant for their arrest. The individual was located and taken into custody on their warrant. A report was completed.
24-003244 Malicious Mischief 21:35:36 06/05/24
San Juan Deputies were cleaning a cell in the jail when they located a sharpened plastic eating utensil. Additional charges for an inmate were sent to the Prosecutor’s Office for weapon possession by prisoner and malicious mischief 3.
24-003246 Found Property 21:43:56 06/05/24
A Deputy on San Juan Island received a report of a found property. A citizen brought in a credit card that was found. The Deputy was unable to locate the person so it was booked into evidence as found property.
THURSDAY, JUNE 6
24-003249 Assault – Body Force 09:31:47 06/06/24
Deputies on Lopez Island were dispatched to an alleged assault involving a landlord and tenant. The reporting party declined to pursue charges, and arrangements were made for the tenant to leave amicably.
24-003257 Citizen Dispute 14:42:58 06/06/24
A Deputy on San Juan Island received a report of an assault. The suspect was arrested for assaulting the victim and was booked into the jail.
24-003260 Abandoned Vehicle 15:27:42 06/06/24
Deputies on Orcas Island impounded an apparently abandoned vehicle at a public beach access. The vehicle’s license plates had been removed and several VIN numbers appeared to have been tampered with. Vehicle identification was made.

A San Juan Deputy responded to a report of a found wallet. The owner contacted the Sheriff’s Office and the item was entered into evidence until arrangements could be made to return the wallet.
FRIDAY, JUNE 7

An Orcas Island Deputy was dispatched to a trespassing call. A report was taken.
24-003275 Weapon Safekeeping 09:36:18 06/07/24
An Orcas Island Deputy collected firearms from an individual as required by a protection order issued by the courts. A report was taken.
24-003277 Civil Problem 10:05:23 06/07/24
A Lopez Deputy completed a report related to a long running landlord / tenant dispute.
24-003279 Suspicious Person/Circumstance 11:23:53 06/07/24
A Deputy was called regarding possible credit card fraud. The situation was investigated; no crime had occurred.
24-003280 Aircraft Problem 11:40:33 06/07/24
Orcas Island Deputies were dispatched to a downed aircraft in the water near Jones Island. The wreckage was located and with assistance from partner agencies the pilot was removed from the submerged plane. The individual had succumbed to wounds sustained during the crash. A report was taken.

An Orcas Island resident reported vandalism involving a broken window on his vehicle.

A Deputy received a secondhand report of harassment on Orcas Island. Resources were suggested and direct contact from the potential victim was encouraged.
24-003284 Vicious Animal 13:33:51 06/07/24
A Deputy was contacted regarding ongoing at large dog issues near Buoy Bay Road on Orcas Island. Follow up is required.
24-003289 Domestic Dispute or Assault 14:12:16 06/07/24
Deputies on Orcas Island responded to a domestic incident. One of the involved was arrested for Harassment, domestic violence.
24-003293 Theft 17:10:35 06/07/24
A Lopez Deputy responded to a report of a missing package. The incident was documented.
SATURDAY, JUNE 8
24-003302 Noise Complaint /not dogs 02:52:20 06/08/24
A Lopez Deputy responded to an individual who was screaming in their home at 3am. The individual claimed they were having a bad dream and refused any offered assistance.
24-003304 Malicious Mischief 09:36:34 06/08/24
A Deputy on Orcas responded to a vandalism call near Eastsound. The front door window had been broken on a home. There are no leads at this time and a report was taken.
24-003314 Burglary, NonRes 16:03:32 06/08/24
A Deputy responded to a reported forced entry into a business in Eastsound. It was discovered that a person had broke into a storage unit building after the outside lock was inoperable. No units inside the building were broken into. The case is under further investigation.
24-003320 DUI 19:50:52 06/08/24
Deputies responded to a traffic offense on Decatur Island. An investigation for criminal charges is in progress.
24-003323 Accident-NonInj 20:30:34 06/08/24
Deputies responded to a reported vehicle collision on Orcas Island. The driver of the vehicle was later identified and treated for wounds. Probable cause was established to believe the driver was driving under the influence. An investigation is ongoing on the case.

A Lopez resident was advised of the county code regarding late night noise after a neighbor complained.
SUNDAY, JUNE 9
24-003333 Vehicle Theft 12:11:36 06/09/24
A Deputy was contacted about a Vehicle Theft in the San Juan Island area. Person reported that his boat was missing from a mooring buoy. Investigation continues.
24-003342 Theft 16:32:06 06/09/24
A Deputy on San Juan responded to a report of theft from a business in Friday Harbor. The involved individuals were a group of juveniles from off island. The individuals were located and the stolen items were recovered. A probable cause statement for Theft 3 was forwarded to juvenile services.

A Deputy on San Juan Island took a report of the theft of a license plate. A report was completed.
MONDAY, JUNE 10
24-003354 Controlled Substance Problem 06:40:30 06/10/24
A report was received about a Lopez juvenile using marijuana. At this time, the issue will be addressed by parents and the school.
24-003357 Found Property 08:35:08 06/10/24
A Lopez resident turned in a realistic looking toy gun they found while walking. It was destroyed and disposed of.
24-003364 Vicious Animal 10:20:30 06/10/24
A Lopez Deputy completed a report for an ongoing dog at large violation. Additional charges may follow.
24-003383 Found Property 20:47:58 06/10/24
A Deputy on San Juan Island took a report of found property, an individual found a license plate on the ground. The Deputy contacted the owner and was informed that they were no longer on island. The license plate was submitted into evidence as found property. A report was completed.
TUESDAY, JUNE 11
24-003399 Found Property 10:46:44 06/11/24
A wallet with cash, credit cards, and a driver’s license was turned into the Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office is trying to contact the owner to return the wallet. The items were placed in the Property and Evidence room pending contact with the owner.
24-003408 Found Property 12:50:00 06/11/24
A pair of prescription reading glasses were turned into the Sheriff’s Office. The glasses were found on Blair Avenue on May 21st. They were placed into the Property and Evidence room.
24-003418 Trespassing 16:43:35 06/11/24
A Deputy on San Juan Island spoke with a reporting party who wished to have someone trespassed. The individual was located and was served with a trespass warning letter. A report was completed.
