A Lopez Deputy responded when an early morning commuter headed to the ferry from Islandale Road swerved when a deer jumped in front of them. Their vehicle went into a ditch. No damage was done to the vehicle, the ditch, or the deer. The driver missed their ferry.

An Orcas Island Deputy responded to a theft call on the 800 block of Pioneer Hill Rd. An investigation is ongoing.

23-004425 Accident-Injury, Traffic 08:04:04 06/14/23
A Deputy on Orcas Island was dispatched to a report of a single vehicle motor vehicle accident. They appeared to be unharmed and the vehicle was towed away.

23-004439 Trespassing 15:18:12 06/14/23
Lopez Deputy responded when an individual drove onto a neighbor’s property to check on the neighbor’s dogs. Moving forward, they agreed to call their neighbor’s phone instead of entering their property for dog inquiries.

A San Juan Deputy was made aware of a third-party report of a possible threat. Investigation revealed the threat did not appear to be credible. A report was generated.

23-004448 Animal at Large 17:30:40 06/14/23
A San Juan Deputy took custody of a loose Staffordshire Terrier. The dog, “Donald Trump” was known to Deputies as a frequent dog-at-large. The dog was returned to the owner, who was issued an infraction for Dog at Large – 3rd or subsequent violation.

23-004460 Accident-HitRun 11:11:13 06/15/23
A San Juan Deputy took a report of a Hit and Run collision. The reporting party advised that someone struck their driver’s side mirror and caused a significant scratch to their fender. No note was left at the scene and no suspect information is available.

23-004465 Fraud 13:26:42 06/15/23
The Sheriff’s Office received a report of possible forgery. The case is currently being investigated.

23-004466 Wanted Person 13:46:02 06/15/23
Orcas Deputies made contact with an adult male in the Orcas Library who had a warrant out of Illinois. The male was contacted and taken into custody without incident and is now awaiting extradition.

A Deputy took a report of a missing road sign to a private drive. The drive is accessed off a county road, therefore the sign is owned by the county. Public works has been notified.

A Deputy on San Juan Island received a report of a kayaker that was in the water. The person was retrieved from the water with the assistance from San Juan Fire. The person suffered minor injuries.

A Deputy on San Juan Island received a report of a found license plate. The owner was not located so the license plate was booked into evidence as found property.

A Lopez resident reported a fraud attempt involving a caller claiming to be from Banner Bank.

23-004487 Citizen Assist 15:49:06 06/16/23
A Deputy was contacted in reference to a Hit and Run Unattended. The person reported their vehicle had been damaged in the past two weeks. No suspect information or evidence at this time. Informational report taken.

23-004495 Traffic Violation 22:15:37 06/16/23
A Deputy received a report of an erratic driver on Orcas Island. The vehicle was located and a traffic stop was conducted. Probable cause was established to believe the driver was impaired. The driver was arrested, processed and booked into San Juan County Jail.

23-004534 Domestic Dispute or Assault 22:13:38 06/17/23
A Deputy on San Juan Island was dispatched to a report of a possible domestic incident. All parties had separated on their own and after an investigation it was found that no assault had occurred.

23-004538 Unwanted Person 02:31:11 06/18/23
A Deputy on San Juan Island was dispatched to a report of an unwanted person. The person was asked to leave and in the process destroyed property of the resident.

23-004541 Suspicious Person/Circumstance 08:24:40 06/18/23
A Lopez citizen called for a Deputy to check on a male wandering aimlessly on Ferry Rd. The Deputy contacted the male and learned he was a recently released parolee sponsored by local church members. A records check was performed, and a report written.

23-004547 Unwanted Person 11:43:32 06/18/23
A Deputy was dispatched to an issue at the ferry landing. The Deputy arrived and was asked to remove an unruly passenger. The passenger refused to leave the ferry and was arrested for Criminal Trespassing. The person was taken into custody and booked. Report taken.

A Lopez resident reported a minor collision that occurred on private property. A courtesy report was completed.

Lopez Deputies were dispatched to a suspicious acting male for a second time. No crime had occurred. Deputies located a shopping bag the male had misplaced and directed him to his home.

A Deputy on Orcas took a noise complaint callback. The reporting party was advised that the Sheriff’s Office was looking into a resolution as no crime had been committed.

A Lopez Island Deputy was dispatched to a trespassing complaint. A trespass warning letter was drafted and issued to the individuals. A report was taken.

A Deputy on San Juan Island served a court order via e-mail as permitted by the court. A report was completed.

After 11:00 PM a Lopez Island Deputy was dispatched to an unwanted person call in the village. The reporting party advised that a man came onto his property and asked for a ride. The individual seemed agitated.

A Deputy on San Juan Island responded to a report of vandalism. The reporting party stated an individual they knew had left destroyed flowers on their front porch and had possibly dented their front door. A report was completed.

A Deputy on Orcas responded to a person in a mental crisis in Eastsound. After assisting the person with a connection to a Designated Crisis Responder (DCR), a plan was made for contacting local resources in the morning.

23-004582 Domestic Dispute or Assault 09:31:16 06/19/23
Deputies responded to a report of a domestic in Friday Harbor. The resulting call was determined not to be a physical domestic but instead an individual acting out because they were not able to get to their therapist.

23-004591 Civil Problem 12:08:05 06/19/23
A San Juan Deputy responded to 500 block of Linder Street for a civil issue. After arriving, it was discovered a female was inside an apartment and refused to leave. She later destroyed some items inside the apartment and was arrested for Malicious Mischief 3rd and Criminal Trespassing 2nd.

An Orcas Island Deputy responded to a call of a civil dispute on the 80 block of Snowberry Ln. An investigation was conducted and it was determined no crime was committed. A documentation report was authored.

An Orcas Island Deputy responded to a medical emergency call to assist Orcas Island Fire/EMS on the 100 block of Blanchard Rd. A report was authored.

Deputies were dispatched to a death investigation on Blakely Island. Evan’s Funeral Home was contacted and a report was taken.

23-004625 Citizen Assist 12:22:44 06/20/23
Lopez Island Deputy was contacted at the station by a citizen regarding theft of property. A report was taken.

23-004626 Welfare Check 13:06:49 06/20/23
A San Juan Deputy Contacted a female on Sunshine Alley who was looking for an item of hers. After contact was made, the female was given a ride to the ER for a voluntary mental health visit.

23-004646 Found Property 19:50:33 06/20/23
A Deputy on San Juan Island was assigned to a report of found property. A citizen found black leather gloves in Friday Harbor. The gloves were placed into evidence as found property. A report was completed.
