A Deputy on Orcas Island responded to an animal complaint. The Deputy contacted the owner and issued a verbal warning for dogs running at large.

23-005195 Harassment 12:01:51 07/05/23
A Friday Harbor resident filed a harassment report with the Sheriff’s Office on behalf of a family member. A statement was taken and the individual was given resources for obtaining an anti-harassment order.

23-005198 Trespassing 13:07:38 07/05/23
A Deputy on San Juan Island responded to a report of trespassing. Two separate homeowners wished to trespass an individual from their property. The individual was contacted via telephone and was informed of the trespass notice, the Deputy was then hung up on. A report was completed.

23-005204 Burglary – Residential 15:24:52 07/05/23
A Deputy took a report of an apparent residential burglary in Eastsound. It was discovered that an unknown person had forced entry into a locked, unoccupied home. No items were removed and no items were left behind.

23-005209 Abandoned Vehicle 19:51:50 07/05/23
A Deputy took a report of an abandoned vehicle. The vehicle had been sold from one party to another. The other was not happy with the running condition and left the vehicle on the sellers property. A report was taken.

A Lopez Deputy responded when a Lopez resident called to inquire what the chances were of Center Road being closed off and used for drag racing.The caller realized it was a bad idea as he explained it and withdrew his request.

An Orcas Island Deputy spoke with a reporting party over the phone regarding a problem with a neighbor’s dog on the 40 block of Turtleback View Ln. The reporting party wanted no action by the Sheriff’s Office taken. An incident report was authored.

An Orcas Island Deputy responded to a theft call on the 900 block of Cedar Hill Rd. The victim reported checks stolen from a mailbox. A report was authored.

An Orcas Island Deputy took a report of a theft of gas from vehicles parked at the upper long term parking lot at the Orcas Ferry Landing. No suspect information was obtained.

A Deputy was contacted at the Sheriff’s Office about an attempted Burglary. The person reported that someone had attempted to force entry into a recently vacated residence. Person requested additional patrol in the area. Report taken.

A Lopez Deputy responded to an accident hit and run call. Upon investigation, no damage was inflicted upon either of the involved vehicles.

A Deputy on Orcas Island responded to a report of vandalism; two political signs had been damaged during the overnight hours. A report was completed.

A Deputy on Orcas Island responded to a report of vandalism. The reporting party stated that an individual had sprayed water on an electric bicycle and wanted the incident documented. A report was completed.

A Lopez Deputy responded to a harassment call. A report was taken.

San Juan Deputies responded to a report of a domestic. One of the individuals was arrested for harassment – DV and was booked into jail.

SATURDAY, JULY 8

A Deputy was dispatched to a Domestic in the Friday Harbor area. The Deputy arrived and made contact with the people involved in the incident. The argument was verbal in nature and there was no signs of
injuries. Report taken.

A Deputy was dispatched to a Domestic in the Friday Harbor area. The Deputy arrived and contacted the people involved in the incident. After speaking to the people involved, the incident was determined to
be verbal only. Report taken.

Two vehicles at the Lopez ferry terminal were issued parking tickets for disregarding the parallel parking only sign.

A reporting Deputy was contacted about a Fraud. The person had purchased an item online but the item was never delivered. The person provided all the documents in regards to the incident. Report taken.

SUNDAY, JULY 9
23-005325 Assault – Body Force 07:50:06 07/09/23
An Orcas Island Orcas Island Deputy responded to an assault call that occurred on the 200 block of Myers Ln. An investigation was conducted, and a report authored. No parties involved wanted to be a victim of a crime.

23-005331 Found Property 11:56:17 07/09/23
An Orcas Island Deputy took a found property report. A fanny pack was located on the 100 block of North Beach Rd. and turned in for safe keeping.

23-005334 Harassment 13:04:39 07/09/23
Lopez Island Deputies were dispatched to a not in-Progress harassment call. It was determined that no crime was committed. An information report was taken.

23-005339 Accident-Injury, Traffic 15:15:27 07/09/23
Lopez Island Deputies and Lopez Island Fire EMS were dispatched to Accident-Injury involving a bicycle and a vehicle. A bicycle had been struck by a vehicle turning onto another road. The bicyclist was flown off Island for further evaluation and a report was taken.

Lopez Island Deputies were dispatched to a Vagrancy call. A caretaker was contacted and believes someone was unlawfully staying in an outbuilding. The Sheriff’s office will continue to conduct frequent surveillance of the area. The investigation is ongoing.

MONDAY, JULY 10
23-005361 Unconscious ALS 08:29:26 07/10/23
A Friday Harbor Deputy responded to an unconscious male in his residence. The male was found to be deceased. The coroner was contacted and he was turned over to Evan Funeral Home and notification of his family is being attempted.

23-005367 Found Property 13:08:16 07/10/23
A Lopez business owner turned in a womens ring that was found in a field.

23-005369 Fraud 14:08:04 07/10/23
Lopez Island Deputies were dispatched to a fraud complaint. There were no losses reported and a report was taken.

23-005372 Trespassing 15:57:23 07/10/23
A Deputy on San Juan Island was dispatched to a report of trespassing. Two people were served trespass letters.

23-005374 Accident-NonInj 16:53:37 07/10/23
Deputies responded when an Orcas driver near Cascade Lake veered into the oncoming lane and struck an oncoming vehicle. There were no injuries. The responsible driver was issued a citation and an infraction.

23-005378 Animal at Large 18:54:30 07/10/23
A Park Ranger took custody of a stray dog in Moran State Park. A Deputy on Orcas Island assisted with securing the dog at the animal shelter.

A found insulin kit was turned into the sheriff’s office. The found property was booked into the evidence room.

23-005399 Fish & Game Violation 13:35:02 07/11/23
Lopez Island Deputies were contacted by an outer island resident reporting crab pots in the water before the start of the season. The information was forwarded to Fish and Game for follow-up.

23-005411 Domestic Dispute or Assault 18:12:07 07/11/23
Lopez Island Deputies were dispatched to a mental health crisis. The individual was transported to a hospital for mental health evaluation.

23-005417 Harassment 22:43:25 07/11/23
A Deputy on San Juan Island responded to a report of harassment. A parent reported that their child was being verbally harassed on the internet by an adult. A report was completed.
