WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 4
23-000052 Traffic Hazard 07:17:18 01/04/23
A San Juan Deputy responded to a collision involving a school bus. The driver moved wide to give room to another large vehicle on a narrow road. The shoulder gave way causing the bus to slide into the ditch. No injuries occurred and the incident was documented with a collision report.
23-000056 Citizen Dispute 09:51:47 01/04/23
An Orcas Deputy responded to a local business who wanted a person trespassed from their business. An attempt to locate the person is in progress.
23-000059 Trespassing 10:42:25 01/04/23
A Deputy on San Juan Island received a report of an unwanted person who would not leave so 911 was called. The person had left the area prior to the Deputy arriving. The caller did not wish to pursue charges.

A Deputy on Lopez Island was dispatched to a report of a threat. The incident was verbal only with no threats.

A Deputy on Orcas Island discovered an abandoned bicycle at the Orcas Substation. No owner or finder of the bicycle is known. The bicycle was booked as property and secured.

A Deputy in Friday Harbor received a reported of a 3 car collision in the ferry lane parking (lot A) The Deputy responded and took an accident report.
23-000073 Welfare Check 18:26:17 01/04/23
Deputies responded to a Deer Harbor address on a reported missing person/ welfare check case. It was discovered that a female, presumed to be under the influence of alcohol, left her home through a window and was not able to be contacted or found.

Orcas Deputies responded to a report of a prowler at an Eastsound residence. The area was searched and no one was found. A report was written.
THURSDAY, JANUARY 5
23-000080 Found Property 11:10:09 01/05/23
An Orcas Deputy received a set of keys that were found in Eastsound. The keys were booked into the property room at the Orcas Island Substation.
23-000083 Wanted Person 12:29:32 01/05/23
An Orcas Deputy arrested a subject with a warrant. The subject was transported to jail by patrol boat to await arraignment.
23-000085 Fraud 14:07:11 01/05/23
A San Juan Deputy responded to a report of fraud. Suspicious charges appeared on a person’s account and were refunded. This case is still under investigation.
23-000090 Malicious Mischief 20:14:13 01/05/23
A San Juan Deputy observed an inmate acting unruly. The incident was documented.
FRIDAY, JANUARY 6
23-000095 Found Property 08:14:51 01/06/23
A Deputy was contacted at the Sheriff’s Office in reference to Found Property. Items had been turned in to the Sheriff’s Office. items were returned to owner. Report taken.
23-000096 Mental Health 08:53:14 01/06/23
Lopez EMS and a Deputy were dispatched to a person in crisis. Responders have dealt with the person dozens of times. A courtesy ride was provided to Friday Harbor so the person could access hospital services.

An Orcas Deputy responded to an ongoing civil problem occurring on Vusario Lane. A report was taken.
23-000099 Parking Problem 11:17:16 01/06/23
Odlin Park staff called regarding a vehicle left overnight without paying the fee. A courtesy message was left for the owner. Infractions will follow if the vehicle is not moved.
23-000101 Suspicious Person/Circumstance 14:05:54 01/06/23
A man from Seattle observed a rusty dented vehicle and approached a Lopez individual’s home to ask if they needed auto repair services. The Lopezian was surprised and felt like their space had been violated. After thinking about it, the Lopezian is considering hiring the man.
23-000103 Burglary – Residential 15:33:22 01/06/23
An Orcas Deputy took a report of burglary that occurred on Blakely Island. No known suspects or leads at this time.
23-000104 Found Property 15:38:08 01/06/23
An Orcas Deputy received a wallet that was found at a local business. The owner of the wallet left it behind while visiting and lives in Seattle. The wallet will be mailed back to the owner at later date.
23-000106 Domestic Dispute or Assault 15:55:43 01/06/23
Deputies responded to a domestic dispute on Orcas Island. After further investigation it was determined no crime had occurred. A report was written.
23-000107 Domestic Dispute or Assault 16:05:18 01/06/23
San Juan Deputies responded to a report of a domestic. The report was forwarded to the Prosecutor’s Office and Juvenile Court Services for assault 4 and malicious mischief 3.
SATURDAY, JANUARY 7
23-000114 Welfare Check 00:20:27 01/07/23
A Deputy responded to a report of a mental health crisis in the area of Eastsound. The subject was unable to be located, but was contacted via phone and was connected with the Compass Mental Health Crisis team.
23-000116 Traffic Hazard 08:13:35 01/07/23
An Orcas Deputy responded to unoccupied vehicle off the roadway. The vehicle was heavily damaged. The driver was located and interviewed. A report was written.
23-000124 Mental Health 17:46:10 01/07/23
A Lopez Deputy responded to an individual having a mental health crisis. The Deputy assisted the individual in getting to the hospital.
SUNDAY, JANUARY 8
23-000131 Theft 09:16:37 01/08/23
A Deputy took a report of a missing possibly stolen trash can from the Eastsound area. A report was taken to document the incident. There are no suspects or leads at this time.
23-000138 Lost Property 15:12:51 01/08/23
A Deputy took a report of lost Jewelry on Orcas Island. A report was taken and efforts are being made to see if there is any information that may lead to the finding of the jewelry.
MONDAY, JANUARY 9
23-000153 Fraud 09:44:39 01/09/23
A Deputy on Orcas responded to a fraud callback on Crane Island. After an investigation was completed it was found that it was a civil matter. A report was taken for documentation purposes only.
23-000155 Citizen Assist 10:09:34 01/09/23
A Lopez Deputy was contacted regarding concerns a person was having with their landlord.
23-000160 Harassment 12:29:15 01/09/23
A Lopez Deputy completed an informational report involving an on-going dispute between neighbors.
23-000162 Welfare Check 15:23:58 01/09/23
A Deputy on San Juan Island was dispatched to a welfare check. The person was contacted and found to not be a threat to themselves or others.
23-000166 Theft 16:54:52 01/09/23
A Deputy on San Juan Island took a report from a citizen that their wallet was stolen while at a business in Friday Harbor. The next day the citizen reported to the Sheriff’s Office that he found his wallet; all of the contents except for the cash were still in his wallet. A report was completed.
23-000169 Weapon Safekeeping 17:31:53 01/09/23
A Deputy on Orcas responded to a Safekeeping call near Rosario. The weapons were gathered and secured in the evidence room for destruction.
TUESDAY, JANUARY 10
23-000174 Traffic Hazard 07:50:58 01/10/23
A Deputy on San Juan Island received a report of two dogs running in traffic. The Deputy observed that two citizens had stopped and were holding onto the dogs. The owner showed up on scene and took custody of the dogs.
23-000175 Wanted Person 09:04:34 01/10/23
A Deputy on San Juan Island served a warrant. The subject was arrested without incident.
23-000189 Fraud 13:40:22 01/10/23
A Deputy on Orcas Island responded to a fraud complaint. The complainant was contacted by someone claiming to be from Amazon fishing for account information. The complainant contacted Amazon customer service at their published number and confirmed the caller had been attempting to defraud her.
23-000201 Suspicious Person/Circumstance 20:28:03 01/10/23
A San Juan Deputy responded to a stranger opening someone else’s front floor, they did not wish to pursue criminal charges. It was also reported that were breaking things in the road. The Deputy picked up the garbage located the female involved in both and was given a ride home. Report completed.
23-000204 Unwanted Person 23:06:15 01/10/23
A Deputy on San Juan Island responded to a report of an unwanted person. A family member showed up to another family members residence and was banging on their door and making indirect threats because of money. The reporting party wanted the incident to be documented. A report was completed.
23-000205 Missing Person 23:07:16 01/10/23
A Deputy on San Juan Island took a report of a possible missing person, they had not spoken to their fiancé for a day and a half. The Deputy could not reach the individual by telephone or at their house late at night. Other Deputies were notified to contact the individual during daylight hours.
