A Lopez Island Deputy responded to a non-injury two vehicle collision in the 3300 block of Center Road on 12/06/17. One of the involved vehicles struck the other when he lost traction due to ice on the road. The Deputy issued the offending driver a ticket for going too fast for road conditions.
17-008525 Domestic Dispute or Assault 13:03:25 12/06/17
A Deputy responded to a family disturbance in Eastsound. No crimes had been committed and the parties were able to be civil with one another before deputies departed. A report was taken for informational purposes.

A Lopez Island deputy was sent to investigate a business that appeared to have an open window. The building was checked and found secure. No signs of entry were detected.

A Deputy responded to the Lopez Island Village for a dog at large complaint. The Deputy located the dog, who was on its property at the time, and the dog owner. The dog owner stated he would make sure his dog remained on the property and under control. A report was completed.

A Friday Harbor school bus driver came to the Sheriffs Office to report
a car passing the school bus, which had its stop sign out and flashers going. The bus driver got a license plate and description of the driver. The vehicle was located and the driver issued a Notice of Infraction.
17-008580 Communications Problem 14:32:41 12/08/17
A Deputy took a report of an e-mail scam. The e-mail suggested that the victim would be physically harmed if the reporting party did not pay $10,000 dollars. The reporting party did not take action to the scam but wanted it documented. A report was taken.

A Deputy responded to a two vehicle collision within the Town of Friday Harbor. Causing driver was arrested and processed for DUI. The passenger on the second vehicle was transported to the hospital for possible injuries. Police Traffic Collision Report completed.
17-008591 Child Abuse or Neglect 18:50:04 12/08/17
A deputy was dispatched to a report of Child Abuse in the Friday Harbor area. The caller reported that a couple was abusing a child at a local business. The couple left before the arrival of law enforcement. The couple was not located but incident is still under investigation.

An Orcas Island Deputy responded to a possible residential burglary in progress in the Eastsound area. Upon arrival the deputy found two locals who were admiring the view from the reporting party’s property. The two were removed from the property, and a report was taken.
17-008604 Citizen Assist 13:51:36 12/09/17
An Orcas Island Deputy was dispatched to a welfare check in the Eastsound area. The subject, a local man, was taken into protective custody without incident after an armed standoff. A report was taken.

A Lopez resident called to report an intoxicated person on a rocky beach near her home. The deputy searched the area but did not find the person.

17-008626 Domestic Dispute or Assault 17:54:52 12/10/17
A deputy was dispatched to a Domestic in the Friday Harbor area. The involved parties were contacted and the incident was unfounded.

A Deputy responded to the Elementary School in Friday Harbor in regards to a suspicious event. The deputy spoke with all the parties involved, found there was no evidence of any law violations, and completed an information report. No further investigation at this time.
17-008640 Harassment 12:41:31 12/11/17
An Orcas Island Deputy was assigned a harassment call. A local man wanted to report unwanted communication he had been receiving. A report was taken.
17-008642 Disorderly Conduct 12:46:57 12/11/17
Deputies were called out to the Elementary School for an issue with a student in one of the classrooms. Deputies met with school staff and the student involved and the issue was settled by verbal contact. information report completed.

An Orcas Island Deputy was assigned a suspicious call. The reporting party, a local man, wanted to report that he had observed someone trespassing. A report was taken.
17-008647 Fraud 18:14:24 12/11/17
A Deputy took a report of an alleged fraud in Eastsound. The victim
reportedly attempted to buy something on “Ebay” and the seller did not follow through with sending the item after funds had been transferred. The case is currently being investigated.

An Orcas Island Deputy responded with Orcas Fire to a CPR in progress call. The deputy assisted with revival efforts. The victim, a local man, was pronounced deceased on scene. A report was taken.
17-008655 Sex Offense 13:41:16 12/12/17
A Friday Harbor Deputy obtained information from a third party in regard to a possible sex offense that occurred on Orcas Island. The deputy gathered the information available at this time and the report will be investigated by a detective. Investigation on-going.
17-008658 Animal at Large 16:55:27 12/12/17
A Lopez Island Deputy received a complaint of a cow getting loose from its fenced pasture. The Deputy located the owner of the cow and the cow was secured in its fenced pasture. A report was completed.
17-008659 Theft 17:00:44 12/12/17
A Deputy spoke with a Lopez Island resident regarding a theft complaint. The reporting person stated an unidentified person removed her business sign which was posted on Port Stanley Road. A report was taken.
17-008660 Citizen Assist 17:37:54 12/12/17
Deputies responded to a disturbance on San Juan Island. Once on the scene deputies found one of the subject had an outstanding warrant out of Seattle, WA. The subject was taken into custody.
17-008665 Attempted Suicide 22:45:51 12/12/17
A deputy was dispatched to an Attempted Suicide in the Friday Harbor area. The reporting deputy arrived and contacted the victim. The victim was transported to the Hospital for treatment.

A deputy responded to a local Eastsound business regarding theft of gasoline. The investigation is still ongoing. A report was taken.

A deputy responded to a walk-in report of a citizen dispute. Upon speaking with the reporting party it was determined that the dispute did not occur in this state. An informational report was made.
