A Deputy received a found debit card from a citizen. The owner was not able to be located. The debit card was logged into evidence for safekeeping.
23-006140 Missing Person 11:00:17 08/02/23
The Sheriff’s Office, US Coast Guard, and Canadian Border Patrol responded to report of a missing person. An individual on Center Island disappeared after going late-night kayaking alone. Search efforts were made. The individual has not yet been located.
23-006144 Unwanted Person 11:47:08 08/02/23
A San Juan Deputy responded to a local business for an unwanted person. This person had been asked to leave the business several times and was refusing to do so. On being ordered to leave by the Deputy, the person left. A trespass warning letter was later issued to the person.

A Deputy responded to a dog bite incident that occurred on Orcas Island. Information was obtained from both owner and victim of the bite. A report was completed.

A San Juan Deputy took a report of vandalism. Several businesses in Friday Harbor had been damaged by graffiti. Video footage of the incident is being reviewed at this time.
23-006170 Citizen Dispute 08:41:19 08/03/23
Deputies responded to a report of a male who had brandished a knife against another male. Upon further investigation, it was determined a knife was pulled against another person and the subject was arrested for Brandishing a weapon.

Orcas Island Deputies were dispatched to a report of Harassment. The investigation is ongoing, and the incident was documented.

San Juan Deputies responded to the Sheriff’s Office for found property. The owner was identified, and the item was booked into evidence.

A Deputy was dispatched to an Agency Assist. The Deputy arrived and made contact with the involved people. One person was taken into protective custody. Report taken.

An Orcas Island Deputy was dispatched to a fraud call at the Orcas Island substation. A report was taken.

A Deputy was dispatched to a Found Property. The Deputy placed the item that was turned into the Sheriff’s Office, into evidence. Report taken.
23-006202 Aircraft Problem 11:48:07 08/04/23
Orcas Island Officers were dispatched to an aircraft accident at the Eastsound Airport. There were no injuries reported and the airplane was removed from the runway without incident. The FAA and NTSB were contacted. A report was taken.

A Deputy was dispatched to an Unwanted Person in the Friday Harbor area. I arrived and contacted the people involved. The business requested that the person be served with a Trespass Warning Letter. Report taken.

A San Juan Deputy arrested and booked a person into jail for trespassing. This person knowingly entered a business from which they had been barred approximately 6 minute prior.

A Deputy on San Juan Island was dispatched to a report of an aggressive dog. A report was taken.

An Orcas Island Deputy was requested to issue a trespass warning to an individual from a local business. A trespass warning letter was completed, and a report taken.
23-006232 Malicious Mischief 12:37:31 08/05/23
A Deputy was contacted about a Malicious Mischief in the Friday Harbor area. The incident occurred last month. Damage was done to a parked vehicle. Informational report taken.

A Deputy was contacted about Found Property. An item was turned into the Sheriff’s office. The item was entered into evidence. Report taken.

23-006266 Attempted Suicide 02:52:05 08/06/23
San Juan Island Deputies were dispatched to a Suicide Attempt in Friday Harbor. The individual was evaluated and transported to the Hospital for further care. The incident was documented.
23-006271 Litter/Pollution/Public Health 10:11:51 08/06/23
A newer model Ford Bronco has been seen illegally dumping trash at Odlin Park. Two of these vehicles are registered on Lopez; a Deputy will follow up with each owner.

A wallet and cellphone were turned over to a Lopez Deputy after being found at Odlin Park. The owner was located in the ferry line.

A Deputy was dispatched to an overdose in the San Juan Island area. The Deputies arrived and the victim was conscious and speaking. Victim was treated at the scene by San Juan EMS and released. Report taken.

The Liquor Control board requested assistance regarding an Orcas Island establishment.

A Lopez Deputy was called regarding a verbal disturbance between a husband and wife visiting from out of state.

A Deputy on San Juan Island was dispatched to a report of dogs at large. The dogs were returned home and a plan was established to better contain the dogs.

A Deputy on San Juan Island responded to a welfare check in Friday Harbor. Upon arrival it was discovered that an individual was inside the residence and needed medical attention. Access was gained to the residence and they were transported to the hospital for further care. A report was completed.

A Deputy on San Juan Island responded to a report of littering in Friday Harbor. A local business’s emergency exit path was partially blocked by the trash of another business. A report was completed.

A Deputy on San Juan Island was dispatched to a walk-in report of fraud. A report was taken.

A Deputy on San Juan Island was dispatched to assist Customs at the Port of Friday Harbor. Possible drugs were seized and booked into evidence.

A Deputy on Orcas Island responded to a theft complaint at a local business. One of their employees was reportedly caught stealing. The employee was terminated and trespassed from the business indefinitely.

A Deputy on Orcas Island received an outer-island theft complaint. Deputies were dispatched to the island. After further investigation, it was determined that no crime had occurred.

A Deputy on San Juan Island took an e-mailed report for a welfare check on a possible San Juan County resident. After an investigation, the Deputy located the individual and they reported they were okay. No crime was reported. A report was completed.

A Deputy responded along with Orcas Fire and Rescue Personnel to assist a person experiencing a mental health crisis. That person was transported to a hospital for further treatment.

A Deputy on San Juan Island was dispatched to a report of trespassing. One person was taken into custody for Trespassing First Degree.
23-006334 Assault – Body Force 11:00:32 08/08/23
Deputies on San Juan Island were dispatched to an assault onboard a Washington State ferry. One person was arrested and charged with 3 counts of Assault 3rd Degree, 1 count of Malicious Mischief Second Degree, and 1 count of Possession of Contraband by a Prisoner.

A Deputy on San Juan Island responded to a citizen assist in Friday Harbor. It was reported that items might be stolen. After talking with involved individuals and family members, it was determined that there was no evidence of a crime. A report was completed.

A Deputy on San Juan Island took a report of threats via text message and phone call. The reporting reporting party said they will petition for a no-contact order. A report was completed.
