A Deputy received a call regarding persons on video surveillance attempting contact at the home when the owners were in California. Parts of the conversations caught via camera were concerning. Further investigation lead to the discovery that no crime had occurred.

Deputies on Orcas Island responded to a report of burglary. A report was taken.

23-002690 Suspicious Person/Circumstance 01:06:58 04/20/23
A Deputy responded to a suspicious circumstance. A citizen called to report having heard people talking outside her residence. The Deputy checked the area. The Deputy did not find anyone on the property.

A Deputy on San Juan Island assisted a citizen who was having a personal crisis. The Deputy was able to put the citizen in touch with some local resources.
23-002705 Agency Assistance 14:44:51 04/20/23
A San Juan Deputy returned a phone call regarding a request for an agency assist. No law enforcement action was requested at the time of the call.

A Deputy took a report concerning a civil custody dispute. Information was documented from the report.

23-002717 Disorderly Conduct 05:03:57 04/21/23
A San Juan Deputy was called out in the early morning regarding a male shouting that he was going to cut someone’s head off. The person was located, alone, and no victim was apparent. They were found to be in violation of court conditions by consuming alcohol. This case was forwarded to the court.
23-002719 Parking Problem 08:23:09 04/21/23
An Orcas Island Deputy was dispatched to a parking problem complaint. The vehicle in question was displaying expired plates that did not match the vehicle. The plates were confiscated. The investigation is ongoing.
23-002725 Burglary – Residential 10:43:21 04/21/23
A San Juan Deputy was dispatched to a report of a burglary. A person was located inside a home unlawfully, but no crime had been committed inside. A charge of Criminal Trespass 1st degree was forwarded to the prosecutor.
23-002732 Court Order Violation 12:08:17 04/21/23
A San Juan Deputy took a report of a court order violation. The reporting party’s statement was taken and further investigation is needed.

A San Juan Deputy took a report of an attempted violation of a domestic violence no contact order. The incident was forwarded to the prosecutor for potential charging.
23-002753 Disorderly Conduct 20:02:23 04/21/23
San Juan Deputies responded to a report of a drunk male urinating on the sidewalk. The male was located and arrested for indecent exposure. A citation was issued and the report was forwarded to the individual’s probation officer for a conditions of release violation.
23-002756 Explosives Problem 23:02:19 04/21/23
A Deputy took a report of a loud explosion in the North Beach Road neighborhood. Video surveillance of the blast was collected and the explosion is believed to be caused by an improvised explosive device. The case is under further investigation.
SATURDAY, APRIL 22
23-002760 Assault – Aggravated 08:50:34 04/22/23
A Deputy on San Juan responded to a report of an assault with a door. After an investigation it was determined that the caller went to the other residence uninvited and crossed the threshold of their front door. The resident closed their door, unintentionally hitting the caller with a door.
23-002765 Accident-NonInj 12:14:08 04/22/23
A Deputy on San Juan Island responded to a report of a single vehicle accident. The driver left the scene on foot and returned a short while later. After an investigation was conducted, the driver was arrested for driving under the influence.
23-002791 Weapon Safekeeping 14:15:17 04/23/23
A firearm was turned over to the Sheriff’s Office for disposal.
SUNDAY, APRIL 24
23-002796 Accident-Injury, Traffic 06:52:22 04/24/23
Deputies responded to Douglas and Hudson Way for a single vehicle accident. The driver swerved to avoid hitting a dog running loose in the road and rolled their car on its side. Dog was gone on arrival.

A Deputy assisted the county Fire Marshall with shutting down an improperly permitted burn pile.

A Deputy on Orcas responded to an accident with no injury in the Deer Harbor area. A report was taken.

A Deputy on Orcas Island responded to a two-vehicle collision. One of the drivers was issued a notice of infraction for failing to yield the right of way.
23-002824 Harassment 16:43:01 04/24/23
A Deputy on San Juan Island received a report of a harassment. It was reported that a juvenile was being harassed online. There were no criminal law violations in this case.
23-002833 Court Order Violation 22:01:54 04/24/23
A Deputy on San Juan Island saw what appeared to be a court issued no-contact order being violated while on patrol. After an investigation it was determined that the order had not been violated, due to one party being unaware of the order. A report was completed.
MONDAY, APRIL 25
23-002852 Trespassing 18:03:02 04/25/23
A Deputy on San Juan Island responded to a report of trespassing. A homeowner wished to have an individual trespassed from their residence. The individual was located and was served with a trespass warning letter. A report was completed.
