— from Sheriff Ron Krebs —

On Wednesday, August 28, a Subaru Outback was involved in an accident in the 1400 block of Roche Harbor Road. At approximately 1:15 a.m. the car left the roadway and rolled over pinning three females inside and then caught fire.

Within minutes a deputy arrived on scene, extinguished the fire and began treating the passengers. San Juan Fire and EMS arrived on scene to extricate the occupants and transported them to Peace Island Hospital.

The driver is being treated at PeaceIsland Hospital and the two passengers were flown to Harborview Medical Center. The extent of their injuries are unknown at this time. It is believed alcohol was a contributing factor. The Sheriff’s Office is conducting an investigation into the cause of the accident.
