On Sunday, September 11 from 12 noon to 2 p.m., State Senator Kevin Ranker will be on hand at the corner of Main Street and North Beach Rd. on Orcas Island to talk to you about the issues concerning you most.   There will be free hot dogs from Lopez’s Ye Scurvy Dogs as well!

Senator Kevin Ranker concurrently serves as a Washington State Senator representing the 40th Legislative District. In the Senate he serves as Majority Assistant Whip, Chair of the Natural Resources & Marine Waters Committee, a member of the Energy and Transportation Committees and a lead for the state’s natural resource, environment and energy budget. Prior to the Senate, he served as a San Juan County commissioner.

As Senator, he has been instrumental in advancing significant legislation in a diversity of areas of importance to the 40th District. Legislative highlights include: protecting our environment, advancing gay and lesbian rights and protecting small businesses. He has secured critical transportation projects for the district, including construction of the first new 144-car ferry in decades. He has also been a vocal advocate for public education, and our Orcas Island schools in particular.

Kevin has deep family roots on Orcas Island.  He spent part of his childhood here living with his grandmother and has now made it his permanent home with his wife and daughter.

So join the Senator on Sunday, September 11 from 12 to 2 p.m. Talk about the issues, find out what’s up in the next Legislative session, or just come and enjoy a great hot dog.
