The community is invited to come to the public school cafeteria for lunch with the kids on Wednesday, September 29th.  On that day, schools around the entire state of Washington will be serving locally-sourced meals and providing education and activities to celebrate the farms that feed us.  Our school will be one of them.

Salmon recently received from our own Glenwood Springs Hatchery featured on the menu. The menu will consist of Betty’s famous cinnamon rolls made from scratch, fresh Salmon Quiche, roasted seasoned potatoes and fresh fruit salad from our local farms and, of course, our fresh salad bar.

This celebration of local food is sponsored by the Washington School Nutrition Association (WSNA) and the Washington State Department of Agriculture Farm-to-School Program, and is a state-wide event to promote the efforts of schools and farms around the state in the local food movement.

The best time for the community without students at the school to be served will be between 12:30 and 1:25 p.m.  Parents with kids in school are encouraged to come then or have lunch with their kids.   The bargain price for a full course adult lunch including entrée, fruit, veggie, one time through the salad bar and beverage is $5.00.   Salad bar only is $3.00.  Mark your calendar!
