Kudos to the faculty and administration negotiators for coming to an agreement on collective bargening and that the Orcas Education Association OEA(teachers union), ratified it. Our children deserve the best qualified and compensated faculty. I encourage the board to accept the recommendation and unanimously approve it.
I had the opportunity to be at the welcome back breakfast for staff at OISD yesterday and felt the atmosphere in the room to be just perfect; new staff were introduced, mr Webb and the principals, ms McGrath, president of OEA and mr Willard president of PSE welcomed new and returning staff. There was a sense of partnership and a common purpose to providing excellent and safe educational opportunities in a healthy environment for our children. Well done!
The following article is disheartening for both the teachers and the children of these districts in WA starting school this and next week. We will keep the students, teachers and administrators in our thoughts and prayers.
