The Orcas Island School District (OISD) Board in regular business transacted after the special session Monday June 18th in the school cafeteria passed one resolution and discussed several other matters briefly.

The SLP, Speech/Language teacher and the school nurse who has been shared with the Lopez school district will he brought on at increased hours.

The board resolved to “surplus” the Tiny Home created by the Career Tech Education(CTE)  program; display it in Eastsound and have a local realtor sell it. Resulting funds will go back into further vocational education.

Keith Whitaker led a discussion about school buses revealing that one used transit bus will be purchased as back-up and two aged ones will be scrapped to be replaced soon with younger models. The proceeds of scrapping the metal will pay for their removal.

Meeting adjourned by 6:30 to a long sunny Orcas summer day. The next regular school board meeting will be Thursday, June 28 at 5 p.m. in the School Library.
